Long Distance Friendship

For the last few weeks we've been learning about using different types of punctuation in our writing. This time we had to make a story that rhymes and with our own themes. Here is the summary of my story: Two best of friends known each other for 2 years, became friends after knowing each other for a year. Yet it was time for one of them to leave. Can they still trust each other without contact for a year? I enjoyed doing this because we could choose our own theme. What I found hard was using descriptive words.

Best Friends

December 3, 2021

“Happy 12th Birthday, Popstar Trish!”. “Awww! Thanks Loris!”. A moderately loud music started playing from the newly bought high-tech television of the one and only Popstar Trish. She was mesmerizing the unforgettable moments and memories that she knew she couldn’t return anymore. Watching her friend’s charming face for the third time made her cry for eternity.

5 years ago (2016)

“Hey Trish! Don’t you dare forget to call me, Okay?! I will really miss you!.” Trish gave a cheerless smile and waved goodbye. “Oh, wait up Trish! I forgot to give you this.” Loris gave her a long brown folder with a collage of green pictures and a messy handwritten letter behind the old folder. “Thanks...but I gave this to you though”. “You might forget me that’s why…”

A year later (2017)...

Two different style and Two different places. In the near future they will collide… “OMG! Is that the one and only Popstar Trish?! Yeorobun (‘everyone’ in Korean) look!”. “I guess my vacation must now give action. Cluelessly, I gave attraction”. Trish sighed helplessly and ran in the streets of Seoul. The paparazzis was still chasing her like there was no tomorrow.

“Where have you been? Why did you leave your phone here? Someone was calling you, I answered it because it seemed really urgent.” Trish’s manager started scolding her for forever. “Who was it? Who called?” Trish asked while packing her things after the deafening speech. ”Apparently she was not in your contacts and she ended the call as soon as I answered...”

Confused with thoughts Trish just felt like flying... “You got me feeling like, feeling like a Papillon~”. Trish practiced singing a cover of Jackson Wang’s song as she walked faster to her studio. “Loris?!”. In shock… unexpected, unpredicted and extremely surprised. “I mi-” “Hi Ms Trish, I have a meeting with you and apparently you’re 3 minutes and 43 seconds late”. Trish was speechless…

“Loris, I can explain!”
“What for?! You lost my trust, Trish! You betrayed me!”
“I’m sorry, I really am. I was scouted by a famous CEO from a very prestigious agency and things got a bit complicated.”
“I called you a million times and you wouldn’t even answer!”
“I’m a singer. I can’t answer calls randomly, it could be a crazy fan or a hater.”
“I’m done with this, Trish. I’m leaving”
“We just met!” “Loris!”. Knowing she didn’t do anything wrong she still felt guilty. She felt like she was to conceited to her. She thought she was just trying her best but she wasn’t…

A week after the unpredicted approach of Trish’s Best friend, she scheduled a meeting with her. “Loris, they say that best friends are people you don’t need to talk to every single day. I know that I didn’t contact you for almost a year but there were also some limit of the things that I do since. Forgive me or not I will be with you like a knot.”

At the end of the day Loris said okay, let’s be together starting today. Joy and excitement was all they could feel and they thought it wasn’t real. Out of the blue Loris starts to quiver she didn’t knew how she could help her. Until… Sobbing and screaming was all people could hear but Trish didn’t hear anything only her friend saying “Sorry I left you without a notice. Maybe that already reached my limit. I will miss you my friend, don’t you dare cry because this is not the end”...

The Last Survivor

WALT..Write descriptively using a range of language features. Throughout the year we've been trying to add descriptive words in our stories. This week we had to add the figurative language as well (Simile, Metaphor etc.) What I found hard was applying all my planning on my story and thinking about the deep descriptive words to apply on my story. The exciting thing was the cliff hanger on the end of my story. next time I will add more figurative language and think more descriptive words without guidance.

During a bright and warm day, there were miniature objects flying around the endless blue sky. A young boy gripping a fragile paper plane like he could end his life if he moved a single finger. Groaning echoes under him made him more anxious. They were his precious friends and he was the last survivor.

The wind was a warm wave, entering and filling his lungs with the aroma of summer. His heart skipped a beat, he was extremely nervous. Nothing could be heard but the wind gushing, wings flapping and the giant animals roaring for the young boy to lose his grip and be devoured.

He was beginning to change his angle as the wind started to vanish. He was preparing to land. Lost in the woods while holding his torn paper plane, He felt a warm drip of water go through his face. Reminiscing the memories that played in his mind. Revealing the truth was like being a traitor to his friends. What did he do so blameworthy?

Shy Spinach Struggling

Every after holidays our class writes a recount about our holidays. This term we did it differently but still applying the same tense: past tense. We had to write a story with a character that could be a food or object etc. The character that we chose would be us, the narrator. I chose a Spinach because it is an easy vegetable to eat for me. I enjoyed doing this because it was different from what we usually do. To improve my work next time I will add more expressive words. Check out my Planning. Here is my story:

How a Vegetable struggled

I was with my fellow green vegetable family while resting in a sprayed transparent plastic bag. I’m a common veggie that wanted to be eaten, a Spinach. It was already Summer but in my situation the atmosphere was cold. The feeling of the chillness made me more lonely and depressed. I felt abandoned because I witnessed sad moments everyday, children and even parents were ignoring my bright but somehow dark presence.

Before I was in this cold place, I was transported from an old and fragile village to a prestigious supermarket. I once thought I was a special vegetable until days continued to end I was still waiting for someone; to buy me. “Grrr! I hate you Spinach!” An innocent kid grabbed me violently out of the blue and threw me to a cold metal push cart. Was I finally being bought? That was what I thought while large human beings in front of me continued doing their busy business.

After being crushed by my relatives: Lettuce and Broccoli, I was placed in a shiny and clear sink to be washed. It felt very relaxing but some parts of me fell off. A hand grabbed me. shockingly I felt a warm feeling from where I was placed. I was being cooked! Happiness surrounded me, beautiful flowers blooming and birds chirping was in my background.

Finally, I was floating in a warm and deep bowl looking at the innocent kid who looked very annoyed and irritated. “Hurry up and eat your soup, dear” The mum of the kid shouted from afar. “I’m not eating this!” Screamed the kid. “Why wouldn’t you?!” asked the mom angrily, releasing hot smoke from her red nostrils. “A spinach soup is not edible, it has a really disgusting visual for innocent children!” “Well little kid, a spinach is very healthy and green, it gives you a lot of nutrients. It tastes delicious as well. You haven’t even tried it did you?” The mum responded with a smirk, it made the innocent kid frown knowing that he lost the debate.

In the end I was eaten, my mission accomplished and it felt really amazing. At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to complete my mission. Next time I would probably be re-born and do something more challenging and fascinating.

Art or Just Messy?

Last week we talked about Graffiti. Is it art or Just Messy? We had to write our own persuasive writing about the confusing topic. What I found hard was choosing a side for my persuasive writing. What I found exciting was knowing interesting facts about Graffiti. Next time I could add a Graffiti drawing made by me. If you are wanting to know which side to pick, read mine.

Is Graffiti ART or JUST MESSY?

I strongly believe that Graffiti is just MESSY. In my opinion, Graffiti just ruins the visual of our city and it disturbs private and public property. Do you think Graffiti helps the environment? Is vandalism and an illegal activity really art? Well, Today I’m going to make you think more about Graffiti.

Firstly, Graffiti is disturbing and an annoyance. Most of the Graffiti workings can be seen in a public and/or private space. Most of those are names that are just scribbled on walls which is totally ridiculous because you could just do a real type of art with your name on it. Therefore, scribbling is not art. Some of the graffiti workings are also inappropriate and it ruins the visual of the city. For example, there are tourists in your country yet there are many inappropriate and messy graffiti workings on the tourist spot. That is a total minus for tourists.

It is illegal. Vandalism: “Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property”. Making art is a likable and peaceful activity for artists to refresh their minds and/or to express what they feel in a place where they know it is legal. Graffiti is not likable. Many people get frustrated and annoyed when they see Graffiti work on their private property. Cleaning the scribble work causes a huge amount of money for the equipment and the owner would not like to spend the money that he/she worked for just because of an anonymous person who drew in his/her property.

Lastly, It is a bad influence for all the people who know and see about Graffiti. Some of the people doing Graffiti steals the equipment used for Graffiti because it is expensive and they don’t have enough income. It influences other people to do Graffiti and more people can steal.

As a result, Graffiti is just MESSY. It gives a bad impression for others and it influences other people to do an illegal activity. Would you like to go to prison because of a scribble work that you could just do on paper? What would it feel like if someone puts Graffiti on your beloved property? That’s why stop, share this and make a better change.

Here is my image and story:

Flying Clock
w4writing.png
Stars so small but sparkly, night that’s dark but bright. An ordinary girl staring at the sky wondering , ‘when can I free time?’. Creativity created her mind and creating things was her type. Not so long after she was alive, she invented another clock that could make time fly. One day, one boy evil and dark captured the clock with his bare hands. An unexpected situation happened. The hot sensation flowing in his body felt like he was forced to drink lava him.

Are the evil people finally gone? Will the world be free and peaceful now? Did I save the world? Questions came to the girl’s mind as more people get murdered by the magical yet mysterious clock. She sobbed and sobbed realizing that there were a lot of evil people around the world. She took the clock and locked it somewhere she know she would not remember. Before the girl left she promised to herself that she won’t come back until the world is peaceful and kind.

A hissing sound occupied the man’s peaceful imagination. The man dashed to the middle of nowhere because all of a sudden, a shadow was behind him. The man took quick steps like a rolling wheel of a car that will never stop. Hissing, laughing and evil roars still chasing him. Puffing, shivering and trembling as he raced with the shadow. If the man stops his heart will freeze until the end of the world.

Covered with blood, sweat and tears the man could only find one hiding space. Squishing himself into a tiny and polluted room. He crosses his fingers and starts sobbing with no volume. He uses his vision and hearing to check and check. In an unexpected time, banging and crashing sounds came to life. In just one blink, the man was already lying on the ground with a flood of blood.

Let's Talk About Fungi/Fungus

WALT..Use the correct structure to create an explanation text and use language features appropriate to an explanation text. This term we've been learning about Mould/Fungi/Fungus. What I found hard was understanding the meanings of each part of the cycle of a Mould/Fungi/Fungus. I could improve in the near future by adding more information and facts on my work. Here is my Planning.

How does a Fungi grow?

Have you ever wondered why a mushroom suddenly pops in your garden? Do you know that wherever you go you’re with Fungi? Well because our surroundings are dirty, Fungi starts.

First of all a Fungi starts with tiny spores that came from the air, more like part of the dirty/polluted air. A spore is an airborne cell-like that lands on any object like food or plants (Organic or Inorganic). If that spore lands on a food, for example a lemon, it will start to grow and will become a Hypha/Hyphae. A Hyphae looks like a hair-like root but it’s colour white.

After the Hyphae grows a Mycelium will start to grow also. A mycelium is a white mat that goes on top of the Hyphae. A Mycelium looks like a cobweb. If you’ve already seen a mould with the white part on it (mould on the bread) that is the Mycelium.

The Fungi will grow more because the Hyphae will absorb more nutrients (dirt). If the Hyphae absorbs all the dirt it will become a Fungi. After the Fungi grow it will release spores once again. The life cycle of Fungi is infinite.

Do you know that when you wake up Fungi is with you? If you wear bright clothes that are washed with Fabric Conditioner Fungi is with you. Why? Because Fabric Conditioner was from a Fungi!

If you see a Fungi on your garden don’t touch it! You never know when the Fungi is poisonous, but there is an edible Fungi, if you want to have one buy a mushroom!

What's Endangered?

WALT..Create a DLO about what does it mean if an animal is endangered. Include information about the endangered animal you chose to research. I enjoyed doing this DLO because I learnt some new vocabularies that I didn't knew. Next time I could add more information or summarise more. Here is my Slideshow:

The Venerable Suzanne Aubert

WALT..Create a DLO to introduce Suzanne Aubert. Describe who she is and what she is famous for. This week our class read some information linked by our teacher about Suzanne Aubert. Knowledge about Fungi

WALT..Create a DLO to explain what Fungi is how it forms and what enhances its growth. Last week we learnt about Fungi. I made a short slideshow of what I know about Fungi. I found it hard because I don't know much about Fungi. I could improve by adding more explanation about Fungi.

Make Your Own Story

This week my class wrote a story having one picture, a title and a sentence for the information about the story that we're writing. I used the Title but I used a different sentence starter. I enjoyed doing this because I get to write my own story. I could improve more by having a better imagination in my story.

Under The Rug

I began dreaming about Rats since I came from the dark and gloomy forest near my haunted house. It’s been two weeks and I think I’m going to have a trauma about Rats. Unbelievable, right?

By the way my name is David Frank, David for short. I’m 34 years old and I’m a retired scientist (I just decided to relax, you know?). I came from the planet called Pluto, Kidding! I came from earth and still on earth. My parents vanished so don’t ask me about them. I don’t have a wife nor a girlfriend. Yes, I’m single and retired...

Two weeks ago...David was writing on his Diary (He’s still a human!).

Tuesday
10:01 A.M
As you can see I love the presence of the nature. I also like taking pictures. I am currently in this mysterious place in my subdivision but it’s really gorgeous!  It’s in the forest if you're wondering what that ‘mysterious place’ was.

12:22 P.M
Dear Diary,
Guess what, I’m lost! I’m starving in this cold and creepy forest and a rat just passed by me. Should I eat it?

7:59 P.M
It’s getting dark now….I think I have to sleep here for tonight,  just tonight.

Wednesday
3:33 A.M

Aaaaahhhhh! Rats are surrounding me and yeah I’m writing on my diary! IDC but this smelly looking rat is chewing my socks. (wait, when did rats smell nice?)

End of Flashback.

Continuing, I ran after the rat peed on my shoes. I ran so fast I didn’t knew where I would go. It was so dark and I was so exhausted so I decided to sleep where I was standing.

I tried to open my eyes but the brightness of the sun was attacking me. “Where am I?” I asked myself with a sigh. *grumble grumble* My stomach said he’s hungry. I decided to walk to find some edible things when I saw my house not so far away from me. “Yes!” I screamed with joy. I opened the door of my house and luckily it still looked like how it was before.

I ate and took a short nap after all the disaster that I passed. Suddenly I heard weird noises from the living room. I switched the light on and I saw that there’s something wrong with the carpet. I grabbed a chair getting ready to use it as a weapon. *CRASH* I threw the chair, apparently I was at a far distance from the thing. I know I’m a scaredy-cat but I seriously think that it was a rat. It was gone, I thought it was dead but I saw it ran away. The rat was so quick you will think that it was just a dust that flew away.

I decided to go to the hospital because I thought I was mentally ill. I’m joking. Anyway that’s my experience about rats. Don’t worry because there are no more rats in my haunted house. I forgot to say something! Um….I like ghosts and vampires but I don’t like rats.
