This last week of term our last activity was to create a Pick A Path Story using Google Forms. I have done this last year that's why I found it averagely challenging. I created a story about you going on a vacation with some conflicts. What I found hard was creating a plot in every section. Next time I will make my writing more creative. I enjoyed doing this because it sort of relates to Korea.
I was a student at St Bernadette's Primary School. This is a place where I shared my learning.

Ngatu-Tapa Cloths
For the past two weeks, my class had been writing an information report about Tapa cloths also known as Ngatu. What I found hard was creating a proper information report with lots of information. What I found interesting was learning the significance and purposes of a Ngatu. Next time I will add more paragraphs on my information report.
Ngatu is the Tongan term for Tapa cloths. Tapa cloths are a highly respected gift in Tonga because of
the hard work putten to making it and the significance of it in Tonga. Tapa cloths are originally from
Tonga and Tongan women are the experts on making Tapa cloths. Old women are also known for
being experts in making a Ngatu and they are called a “taukei”. In Tonga, tapa cloths are used for
multiple purposes: swaddle a newborn baby, a bed for a married couple’s first night and wrapped
around a body of a loved one. Women in Tonga also use a tool for their designs.

Tapa cloths are papers that you can add a specific design on. Some of their designs are already
made and they are called a “kupesi”. It is wood that has the design lifted and they put the tapa
cloth on the kupesi and start pressing on the paper with paint. The designs on the Tapa cloths
have a meaning behind its design. The designs that Tongan people choose could be their flag, birds,
trees, airplane etc. All of the design they make has a significant meaning behind it. Each town can
have a design they want that they think has a meaning for them.

A Ngatu is made from a specific wood from Tonga; Hiapo, in english, a paper mulberry tree. The
process of making a Ngatu is really tiring in Tonga. In Tonga they cut the Hiapo tree first and peel
off the bark from the tree. After claiming all the bark, they dry it out on the sun and then soak it in
water to make it softer. They start hammering it with a stick called “ike” on top of a long wood called
“tutua”. After softening the wood they start sticking it onto a cloth or another tapa cloth. The glue that
they is made from flour and water, plus kerosene to make it shiny. Afterwards they add their first base
of design and dry it out on the sun. When the cloth dries they make their design more darker and visually
beautiful. That’s how tapa cloths are made in Tonga.

Teachers are Awesome
In R.E we created an article on what characteristics a teacher should have. We had a choice to choose between a newspaper generator or a google drawing, I chose a newspaper generator. What I found fun was explaining the typical teacher that I like. What I found hard was expanding my explanation. Next time I will add more qualities. The title of my article is ¨Want to be a teacher?¨

Cell Phones are Toxic
WALT.. write a persuasive text. For the past two weeks we started to create a persuasive text (Should Cell phones be banned?) . What I found hard was using words that can persuade my audience. What I enjoyed was finding out facts that I didn't know about phones. Next time I will try to improve my persuasive writing by adding more facts and using words that can strongly persuade my audience.
Cell Phones should be banned in School
I affirmatively believe that Cell Phones should be banned in School. Cell Phones are extremely distracting, addicting and can be used for cheating. Do you think that they are a good influence for you and/or your children?
It is certain that cell phones are overall distracting for children, and even parents. If your child have their phones all the time, there is a high chance that they also use their phones during class. Children this century always try to keep up in social media, if one kid use their phone others will be influenced to do the same thing. Once they they have their focus on their cell phones they wouldn’t have the ability to listen in class. Students will have no idea what they will be learning about and will have a negative result in the end. Cell phones are indeed distracting.
Cell phones are also addicting. Children this generation can’t take their complete attention off their gadgets. For example, you ask your children to do something for you and they reply ‘wait’ or ‘let me finish watching this first!’. That is because they put their phones as their first priority before others. Everything that children does at their house applies everywhere; our actions starts in the house. If this situation happens in school it wouldn’t be pleasant. Especially students in high school; they need to be able to communicate with others in able to have friends they could bond with. Instead of having their head down low looking on the screen for a exceedingly long time, not communicating with people. Did you know that the vibration of a cell phone can cause damage to your brain? Using cell phones for a very long time is also extremely unhealthy. Therefore, cell phones are addictive and unhealthy just like sugar.
Last but not the least, cheating. Cell phones can be used for cheating when students don’t study for their exams/ quizzes etc. Students are too lazy to study because of cell phones: they use cell phones for cheating. There are many bad influences that a cell phone can do to your child. Students get sneakier the longer they stick with their phones. I strongly believe that children lack self control when it comes to their phones.
Without a doubt, cell phones are overall distracting, addicting and influences students to not study. There are many consequences that a cell phone can do to an innocent child. Therefore, I strongly believe that cell phones shall be banned in school. Do you still think that cell phones should be allowed in school?

This term our class started to listen to the story Posted; our teacher reads the book. Every week we are to do an activity to testify our prior knowledge of the story. What I found interesting was learning and discovering things from the story. What I found hard was listening to the story with my full focus. I will be continuing to update my slideshow until the end of this term.
