Tinikling Dance

WALT..Explore how different cultures produce music. Last week we have been learning about an instrument/object used for dancing that we used in a country that we chose from. I chose Tinikling (a dance from the Philippines) and in Tiniklng they use bamboo poles. What I found hard was explaining more about the usage of Bamboo poles. What I found exciting was watching the videos of the dance. Next time I will explain more about my chosen object.

Starting With A Key

For the last week of Term 2, our teacher gave us an exciting work in writing. We had to pick a key, draw it and draw what it unlocks. After planning we had to make a story about it and the main topic was the key. I chose a blue key. What I found hard was using different adjectives for my story. I found this activity really engaging because we had to write our story with a mystery. Next time I will write my story with different punctuation.

CEO Blue

Yesterday I received a gift and today I am going to open it. I’m on my way to tell my story to the world and it will be phenomenal.

“Good morning, Miss..?” “Secretary Daphne, call me that”. I wanted to remember my drastic past realistically. “Well Secretary Daphne, my name is David and I will be interviewing you today.” “Please write it well Mr. David”  I responded with a soft laugh. “Before we get started may I ask you a question?” “Yes”. I waited patiently as he flipped the pages of his notebook with slight clumsiness. “Oh!, ah, right, Are you still working as a Secretary?”. “No, I’m just taking care of my child for the past nine years...” “Shall we get started then, Secretary Daphne?”. I nodded.

It was ten years ago when I started working in an underground laboratory. There were only five people in a massive blue lab and I was one of them. The CEO, a nine year old boy and two lab experts. Wyndell was the name of the young boy and he had an unidentified power. It was uncontrollable. CEO Blue found Wyndell in this place where the lab was. Wyndell was buried alive so the result was that CEO Blue saved him. After two years the CEO couldn’t handle the kid by himself so he hired me and two lab experts.

“Secretary Daph, could you please bring me the blue key on my table.” I dashed my way without responding and went in his dark office. “Ah!” I tripped on a drawer that was mysteriously...blue? Since I stepped in this lab I knew that CEO Blue was obsessed with the colour of his name, yet, I didn’t knew that it was this extreme. “Was that your first time, Secretary Daph?” “Yes Sir, It was my first time stepping in your office. Here is the key” I kept my posture upright and my tone clear as I handed the key. “Thanks” was all he said.

After the CEO left the lab I was walking my way to Wyndell’s room to give his dinner. (Knock, Knock) “No!” The poor young boy was exhausted and in shock from all the experiments that was cruelly done to him. “It’s Daph. Your food is ready. Can I come in now?” “Yes”. His room had the aroma of a populated hospital full of sick people. “Let me help”. Those three words came out of my mouth automatically because of his situation. Wyndell was so thin and he had dark black circle under his eyes. I stared at him with pity as he ate his food until he finished.

I need coffee! That was all I could think at this inconceivable moment. I raced home straight after feeding Wyndell and overheard something I shouldn’t have heard. I regretted. I wish it’s a dream, it is a dream!...But no. CEO Blue has found the cure. I need to steal the key. The poor kid must live longer and I will save him.

“Good morning, CEO Blue!” I greeted him wholeheartedly for the very first time.  He stiffed for a second. “Morning” he said. Did I go overboard? Was that too obvious? I was so nervous that I kept on overthinking with nonsense actions. One thing in my mind sticks to me though, Save the kid. After a while CEO Blue had to leave for a reunion with his family. He was going to be gone for two hours.  I knew that time that it was time to make a move. “Look after Wyndell” “Yes, sir. Have a safe trip”. (SLAM, sound of the door)

“Key, Key, KEY! Where is the blue key?!” I whisper-screamed with frustration that I could even feel the smoke coming out of my ears and nose. I forgot that the two lab experts was still in this place. I had to be careful and alert. Fifteen minutes had passed and I still couldn’t find the key. I needed to calm down as soon as possible. “Oh!” I remembered. (Knock, Knock) “Hi there, Wyndell” I sat beside him and smiled. “Daphne, I can’t take it anymore. I want to leave this dungeon. Please, please help me”. He begged like it was the end of the world. I almost dropped a tear because of his unhappy message. “I need the blue key” I forced my tone as I said the colour blue. He handed me a necklace he was wearing and it was right on it. It was unexpected. “I’ll be back soon. Get ready”.

An hour, an hour had passed and I finally opened my boss’ drawer. It felt like the time was moving slowly as the drawer opens. (Step, Step, Step) “Daph?” (Step, Step, Step) It was one of the lab experts. I exhaled, stood up quietly and took every single folder in his drawer. “Daph?” Oh great, two of the lab experts were outside the door. “Farewell!” I said to them and sprinted. I snatched my belongings and grabbed Wyndell. We escaped the dungeon just like that.

“Wow. That was an interesting story, Secretary Daphne. I have several questions left, do you mind?” “Go ahead” I smiled at him and looked at my watch, thirty minutes till noon. In thirty minutes I had to go, to go to CEO Blue’s funeral “Do you know where Wyndell is right now? If not where did you last saw him?” “You see, Wyndell is my son. My biological son” I stood up and waved goodbye. I knew that we will meet again but he will have to find my whereabouts. Until this day I am known as Secretary Daphne.
